Australian K-Pop sensation and host of SBS PopAsia Live, Kevin Kim has scooped the coveted title of Cosmopolitan + Tinder 2018 Bachelor of the Year at a star-studded event at Sydney’s Coogee Pavilion.
Australian K-Pop sensation and host of SBS PopAsia Live, Kevin Kim has won the title of Cosmopolitan + Tinder 2018 Bachelor of the Year tonight in Sydney. As the winner of the competition, Kevin will receive a $5,000 cash prize and a Contiki trip for two valued at $5,000.
Kevin came out on top of a field of 30 dynamic finalists, including 15 of the country’s hottest actors, influencers and performers, and 15 everyday Aussie blokes. Now in its second year, the competition highlights model males who appeal to Cosmo’s millennial readership.
“I'm the first Asian to ever win so that's pretty cool - I feel proud to be representing my community. I really appreciate all the people that voted for me for all their support,” Kevin said.
Kevin had his priorities in check. Straight after winning, Kevin told SBS that "I called my parents and sent a message to all of my boy group members in Korea."
It comes as no surprise that Kevin has a big night ahead: "I'm celebrating tonight with the team from SBS PopAsia. They have really supported me and I'm looking forward to spending the night with them all."
After migrating to Australia with his family in 1997, Kevin Kim soon started his musical journey by leading the Sydney Angels Choir and performing in various musicals. Exploring his passion, Kevin ventured to Korea and was selected to be part of an up-and-coming K-pop band Z:EA.
As a lead singer of Z:EA, the debut solo album titled Nativity released in 2010 and was a chartbuster. In 2013, Kevin hosted his own show Hot Beat with Arirang radio and continued realising solo covers.
Back in Australia, Kevin now hosts three weekly shows on SBS PopAsia – Australia's number one destination for all things Asian pop. The program has an enormous following covering the latest music, news and interviews from Korea, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Vietnam and Thailand.
