SEOUL, April 5 (Yonhap) -- SBS TV's legal thriller "Whisper" gained further ground to solidify its lead in the Monday-Tuesday late night TV race, data showed Wednesday.

Tuesday's night's episode four of "Whisper" recorded 15 percent viewership nationwide, according to Nielsen Korea. Ratings for in and around the Seoul area stood at 16.7 percent.

Male buddy films dominate the local industry these days following the back-to-back box-office successes of several films of the kind since early this year.

They include "Confidential Assignment" starring Hyun Bin and Yoo Hae-jin, "The King" featuring Zo In-sung and Jung Woo-sung, and "New Trial" with Kang Ha-neul and Jung Woo.

SEOUL, April 19 (Yonhap) -- A South Korean-Japanese co-produced film got selected in a noncompetition category of the 70th Cannes Film Festival, the film's Korean production said Wednesday.

South Korea's leading media and content company CJ E&M said it has produced "Blade of the Immortal" jointly with Warner Bros. Japan.

"Good Manager," KBS 2TV's late-night office comedy series, topped a benchmark TV popularity index in late March, while SBS TV's new legal thriller "Whisper" soared to second place, data showed Tuesday.

"Good Manager" scored 260.7 points on the Content Power Index (CPI), becoming the most popular TV program from March 27 to April 2.

Domestic courtroom drama "New Trial" topped the box office on its first weekend, pushing aside the previous No. 1 "Fabricated City," data showed Monday.

"New Trial" starring Kang Ha-neul and Jung Woo attracted 755,268 viewers over the Feb. 17-19 weekend, according to a box office tally from the Korean Film Council. The film exceeded 1 million in attendance on Sunday.
