The highly anticipated Korean action thriller THE VILLAINESS will be screened from June 29 2017 in major cities in Australia and New Zealand, according to the Cine Asia.

SEOUL, July 3 (Yonhap) -- Director Lee Joon-ik's latest historical film "Anarchist from Colony" led the weekend box office, taking up 48.8 percent of all tickets sold, data showed Monday.

According to the computerized tally from the Korean Film Council (KOFIC), "Anarchist" added 817,982 to its audience tally of 1.18 million over the June 30-July 2 weekend.

CJ E&M, South Korea's largest content and media company, is set to establish a Turkish unit to make inroads into the local movie market.

"We will set up a local unit for content making, investment, distribution and marketing in Turkey and begin making South Korea-Turkey co-produced films," the company said in a release.

Okja may be the most controversial film to debut at Cannes this year. Directed by Bong Joon-ho of The Host and Snowpiercer fame, the Korean-American production is being distributed by Netflix, a fact that has led to criticism by some who worry about the streaming giant muscling its way into cinema’s most prestigious festival.
