Police refer BTS' Jungkook to prosecutors for potential indictment

Police have referred BTS' youngest member Jungkook to prosecutors for a potential legal indictment over a car accident in October, police officials said Tuesday.

Yongsan Police Station in charge of Jungkook's case said it has sent the case to the prosecution, advising it to lay formal charges of violating the Road Traffic Act and related laws against the K-pop star.

A sedan driven by the 22-year-old rammed into a taxi in central Seoul in October, causing minor injuries to Jungkook and the taxi driver. He tested negative in a subsequent alcohol test.


BTS' Suga releases collaboration with Halsey

Suga, a member of K-pop sensation BTS, released a song in collaboration with American singer-songwriter Halsey on Friday.

The song, "SUGA's Interlude," featuring the BTS member is one of the tracks on Halsey's new album, "Manic," to be officially released on Jan. 17.

The two sides pre-released the track in digital single format through major online music stores and streaming platforms on Friday ahead of the official release next month.


BTS sweeps top prizes at 2019 MAMA in Nagoya

 K-pop sensation BTS picked up nine prizes at this year's Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) in the Japanese city of Nagoya on Wednesday, monopolizing the biggest Asian music awards event.

The septet took home the top three prizes at the 2019 MAMA -- Album of the Year, Artist of the Year and Song of the Year -- winning big at the awards ceremony held at Nagoya Dome.

Six other awards including Best Male Group, Best Dance Performance-Male Group and Best Music Video also went to BTS.

 K-pop sensation BTS will heat up year-end festivities with a series of high-profile performances in its home country of South Korea and outside.

With the 2019 Melon Music Awards scheduled for Saturday at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul, BTS will begin its run of performances throughout December, providing an unusually entertainment-packed month.

Appearing at the Melon Music Awards last year as well, BTS dazzled fans by staging specially remixed versions of its songs, featuring elements of traditional Korean performing arts.


BTS picks up American Music Award for 2nd consecutive year

K-pop sensation BTS picked up an award at the 2019 American Music Awards (AMA) for the second consecutive year Monday.

The septet was announced as the winner of Favorite Duo or Group - Pop/Rock in the 2019 AMA show held at Microsoft Theater in California on Sunday night (U.S. time).

It marks the second consecutive year the band has been awarded at the AMAs, considered one of the three major pop music awards in the U.S.

Last year, BTS was awarded Favorite Social Artist at the annual award ceremony, becoming the first Korean artists to win an award at the AMAs.


Grammys under fire after BTS wasn't nominated for 2020 event

Many eyes had been on BTS' possible nomination when the American Recording Academy announced the 2020 list of nominees Wednesday following the septet's unprecedented feats in the American music scene this year.


BTS will not be exempted from military service: culture minister

Globally acclaimed superstars BTS and other high-flying K-pop stars will not be exempted from mandatory military service under the government's new guidelines on conscription waivers, the culture minister has said.

Since early this year, a government task force has been working to revamp the guidelines to raise fairness in military conscription, and the final result is due for announcement this week.


BTS records $116.6 mln in sales from 'Love Yourself: Speak Yourself' tour

K-pop superstars BTS clinched US$116.6 million in sales through its sensational "Love Yourself: Speak Yourself" world tour, Billboard said Friday.

Under the globe-trotting concert tour, BTS staged 20 performances in 10 cities in North and South America, Europe, Japan, Saudi Arabia and finally in South Korea through May to October.

Through the tour, BTS sold a total of 976,283 tickets, averaging 48,814 ticket sales worth $5.8 million per concert, according to figures from Billboard Boxscore posted on the official Billboard website.
