Busan art fair held to boost direct transactions between artists, viewer

The K-Art International Exchange Association (K-Art), one of the largest exhibitors of contemporary and traditional art, has held an art market in the southeastern port city of Busan as part of efforts to encourage direct transactions between artists and their consumers.


Actor Park Hae-jin's wax figure to be displayed in Shanghai

A wax figure of the popular Korean actor Park Hae-jin will go on display in a global museum of wax dolls in Shanghai this month, his agency said Wednesday.

The wax figure will be shown at the Madame Tussauds Shanghai from mid-December till April next year, Mountain Movement said.

The museum headquartered in London is known for making and displaying wax figures of historical figures and global celebrities in its branches around the world.


Song Joong-ki to emcee Mnet Asian Music Awards in Hong Kong

 Actor Song Joong-ki will host this year's Mnet Asian Music awards (MAMA) in Hong Kong for the second year in a row, the organizer CJ ENM said Monday.

The star of the mega-hit television series, "Descendants of the Sun," is shooting for tvN's new series, "Asdal Chronicles," set to premiere next year.

The star-studded year-end music awards, which started in 1999, will take place in Seoul on Dec. 10, Tokyo on Dec. 13 and Hong Kong on Dec. 14.

Actor Jung Hae-in will host the Seoul event while the Japanese one will be emceed by Park Bo-gum.


S. Korean 7-Eleven starts unmanned locker service

South Korea's 7-Eleven said Sunday that it has started offering unmanned locker space services to users as part of its effort to diversify operations and generate more profits for its convenience stores.

The Seven Locker trial operations started at two stores in Seoul's Hongdae and Jongno districts, with the local convenience store operator moving to increase the number to 10 by year's end to better gauge customer response and growth potential.


Gov't to ban radioactive monazite mineral in consumer products

South Korea's nuclear safety agency on Thursday announced a set of measures to prevent a recurrence of radon-emitting consumer products, including banning the use of the radioactive mineral monazite.

The measures come as a number of consumer products ranging from mattresses to accessories have been found to emit higher-than-permissible levels of radon gas, a radioactive substance.


Samsung hosts forum on AI platform Bixby in Seoul All Headlines 17:18 November 20, 2018

Samsung Electronics Co. on Tuesday hosted a forum on its artificial intelligence (AI) platform Bixby in Seoul, emphasizing the necessity of inviting more developers to expand the AI assistant's ecosystem.

"Bixby is a platform that can expand freely," Samsung Electronics Vice President Chung Eui-suk, who leads the project, said during Bixby Developer Day. "By 2020, all Samsung devices will support Bixby."

Chung said the company also plans to have products from rival companies be able to access Bixby through Samsung's Internet-of-Things platform.


Korean motor companies present high performance, eco-friendly cars in Paris

Korean manufacturers introduced their new models at the 2018 Paris Motor Show,one of the biggest international motor shows, which opened at the Paris ExpoPorte de Versailles on Oct. 4.  

At this year’s motor show, the advance of eco-friendly and high performancevehicles was noticeable. The slower car sales in general and Europe’s strengthenedenvironmental regulations pushed companies to produce eco-friendly cars for theEuropean market.
